Mission Statement

To prepare youth from the ages of 13 to 18 years old to become a full member of their respective fire organizations. Through this program members will be given confidence, leadership skills, basic knowledge of their community and will learn basic Firefighting, EMS, and community service skills.

Definitions & Eligibility 

All applicants must reside in The North West Fire Protection District or of a fire jurisdiction immediately adjacent to the North West Fire District that does not already have a program.

A Junior Firefighter is an individual who ranges in age from 13 to 15 years old.

A RAM is an individual who ranges in age from 16 to 18 years old. This member shall be eligible for regular membership upon reaching their 18th birthday and having graduated high school or received their G.E.D. 

Application Process

Junior applicants must complete a Junior application and submit it to the Junior Advisor for review by the Junior and RAM committee and approval by The North West Fire District.

RAM applicants must complete a regular membership application for the Baldwinsville Fire Department and write “RAM” on the front page. The application will then be handed into the Advisor who will then bring the applicant up for membership and the next monthly meeting. 

Both applications must be filled out completely and signed by a parent or guardian prior to being handed in. 

Junior applicants must provide a copy of their latest school physical and or doctor's evaluation annually (every January) to the department before any involvement in actual hands-on training. 

RAM applicants must pass an initial physical and background check as required by the SOGs of The North West Fire District.
