On Friday, August 12, 2016 Baldwinsville volunteers were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident with the gas pumps on fire next to the building at 35 E. Genesee Street.  Baldwinsville Car 3 quickly arrived and reported a gas pump on it's side with a fire and established command.  The car had moved from the gas pump and when the fire started the extinguishing system activated suppressing part of the fire.  Baldwinsville Ladder 2, Engine 7, Engine 4, Ladder 3, Engine 5, and Squad 3 responded, extinguished the fire, protected the exposures and diked surrounding areas to control the running gas.  A full County and City hazardous materials response was requested to contain and mitigate the large fuel spill and runoff.  As Hazardous materials reps were arriving, responding companies were scaled back.  Moyers Corners SQ3, City of Syracuse crews, and Mattydale FD responded as part of the hazamat response.  A quick and well organized response stopped a large quantity of gas from running into our local waterways.
